Innovation, investment and involvement - The three ‘I’s that spell success

As we embark on another OTC exhibition in Houston we are starting to see a clear upturn in offshore activities that require our products across the exploration, installation and production phases of oil and gas projects.

From an exploration perspective we are seeing positive signs of activity with several new opportunities ongoing and imminent. During the downturn in drilling activity we have been working hard behind the scenes, evolving and developing new products and solutions that will see us strongly positioned to meet client requirements accordingly.

Engineering and projects director, Fraser Milne, said: “Throughout the R&D process we not only consider the actual product cost but the benefit it brings to the overall cost of the project. Our $26m investment in the Balmoral Subsea Test Centre and R&D laboratories has helped underpin the integrity of these new solutions.

“Our new drilling-related products will be prominently displayed on our booth, 1339-A, in the main exhibition hall during OTC with product-specific presentations being held twice daily.”

In terms of the production phase, activity in the GoM and beyond is very positive with a strong pipeline of new SURF projects planned in the short to medium term. Balmoral has an enviable track record in this sector and we have continued to invest in the development of our products to value-engineer the most cost effective solutions whilst reducing lead times.

The importance of early dialogue has never been greater with budgets under pressure in a competitive market

Gary Yeoman

Gary Yeoman, sales director, says: “The importance of early dialogue has never been greater with budgets under pressure in a competitive market. This has been evidenced by numerous instances of collaborative working with operators and contractors to drive a more commercially attractive overall solution throughout the supply chain.

“The ever-present Balmoral team is readily available in Houston and will be supported by our engineering colleagues during OTC to discuss the benefits of early collaboration and our buoyancy, thermal insulation and elastomer product portfolio.”
